Lack of content
closes down the British video streaming service supported by ITV, C4 and BBC
People
want choice and accessibility but also great content. On demand video services
continue to see massive growth but it is dominated by 2 players; YouTube, who
own 70% of all video visits and BBC iPlayer, making up 10%. The rest of the
market fight over the last 20%. If you are going to enter this space, you
either need to populate a niche or ensure you have the content that will
compete against these big players. Future aggregators will probably have a more
prominent position in the future as platforms (i.e. internet, mobile, tablet)
converge and a more restrictive internet is adopted but this is still a few years away.
